What is really happening is that these companies are lining up advertisers on one side & Internet users on the other & acting as a kind of matchmaker. The advertisers get to deliver their message to a targeted audience and the targeted audience gets to get paid directly from part of the advertising revenue. Everybody wins!
In the "Get paid to read Email" programs the Internet user simply agrees to receive Email advertisements. Most programs require that you click on a link in the email to visit a web-site. The Internet user is paid a flat or variable rate for each Email piece.

Net4Biz is technically a pay for e-mail company, though you can check their website more frequently to see if there are new ads for you. You are paid to visit approximately 3 or 4 different sites each week. In the short time they've been operational, they've been very consistent.
SendMoreInfo: pays both for the e-mail you receive, plus a percentage of the e-mail your referrals pay to send to the group. They have already begun sending out e-mail. 5 cents for every email you receive, 2 cents for every email your referral receives, 2 cents for every email your referral sends.
