" Creating a Postive Force for the Future "
The primary goal of the BTKKA is to teach
self-discipline, integrity, soundness of mind and body with
proper emphasis on control. The BTKKA program teaches a very
effective means of self-defense as well as being an all around
body conditioning athletic activity. Considerable demands are
made on one's self-discipline, both physically and mentally. The
program is also very valuable for character development. In
short, the BTKKA training programs helps produce a well-balanced
personality, able to avoid conflict but well capable of defending
themselves when necessary.
The BTKKA offers a unique blend of traditional martial arts
training coupled with proven physical and learning development
techniques. At the BTKKA, Karate, Kobudo (traditional weapons),
Koshiki Kumite (traditional sparring), IaIdo (swordmanship),
Tameshi Wari (art of breaking) and Self-Defense are taught as
arts that can be practiced throughtout one's daily life.
Our goal is the development of the overall potential, both
mentally and physically for each student. The BTKKA instructional
approach is designed to give each student a thorough
understanding of the physical, mental and technical aspects of
the martial arts. All of our classes and programs are designed to
maximize student safety, However, as in any physical activity you
have to get into shape, and as a result stretching and
callisthenics may produce muscle soreness at first. Modern
protective equipment is mandatory for sparring practice which
permits the BTKKA to maintain a high level of safety combined
with realistic training.
The BTKKA offers programs for women that include training in
Karate & Self-Defense as well as psychological support for
those women who desire to learn how to defend themselves. The
women not only gain physical conditioning, but also study mental
and physical aspects of defense situations.
Additionally, Sensei Simmons also conducts quarterly seminars and
self-defense clinics for women. They focus on not just learning
physical defense, but also on the mental aspects as well. Such
topics include; "Rape Prevention", "How to be
Aware in a strange environment and many other focus points.
