I am interested in spending the summer in Chadron next summer(2000), a home exchange, something. I live in Hendersonville, NC, which is in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 30 minutes south of Asheville. It's cool and lush here, and I live within walking distance of the Norman Rockwell like downtown. I have two reasons I want to be in Chadron or somewhere in Western Nebraska. First my dad was the city manager, I think the first, of the town in the late 1950s. I have heard several stories of the town although I hadn't been born at the time. My older brother was born there. The other reason is because my favorite writer is from Nebraska, Willa Cather. I would like to experience what I have enjoyed so much reading about. The other reason is because I have a romantic notion about small towns, which I want to share with my 7 year old daughter.
I am a teacher here, writer and outdoorsperson. Please let me know of places that could help me make my 2000 trip possible. If you have the e-mail address of the newspaper there, or if there is some other source that would be helpful that would be great, or just listing my request on your site. Let me know.
