These two quilts were a gift. I love looking at all the different fabrics in these...they are fascinating scrap quilts!

I made this 8" cat potholder out of scraps. I was actually just practicing my satin stitch, machine quiting, and binding on my new Pfaff, but I kept going and it turned out to be a potholder! I think this is the ONLY quilting project I have finished to date! LOL!

I took a block out of BH&G's 501 Quilt Blocks book and designed this quilt. It turns out to be a fairly common pattern, but I still love the design. My DH picked out the colors for this one, so maybe it can be his birthday gift in October! Hmm... at my rate, maybe for his birthday in 2000!

These are some of the 1930s blocks I got back from a recent swap. (Shampoo ALWAYS knows where the best place to sleep is!) I will fashion my quilt after the famous Dear Jane quilt. I will try to collect enough blocks to make a bed-sized quilt, so this is another long project in the works!

This is the second quilt I started. It's a nine-patch variation in light blue, purples, and white. The top is pieced and I am in the process of machine quilting it. You know, I think I like the designing and sewing part much better than the actual "quilting" part! I get frustrated easily with quilting, and I'm seriously considering hiring it out next time. Then my projects will get done that much FASTER, instead of becoming UFOs!

I made this little doorknob hanger the morning of July 4th. I used a paper-pieced schooner in the corner, and found the perfect striped fabric for the body. You probably can't see it, but I used "Declaration of Independence" fabric on the sails, as well as for the backing of the pillow. Paper piecing was a new discovery for me, and was rather pleased with the results. It hangs in the living room and the cat loves to bat at it.

This is an Oriental Window wallhanging I saw at a quilt shop, and I just HAD to make it! I bought the special scenery fabric, they gave me instructions for the pattern, and I put the top together in two nights. Right now I am learning how to hand-quilt, so this is a perfect practice piece since it's all straight lines. Click here to see a close-up of the "windows." It's a gorgeous print and it's turning out very nicely.
