The Basics About Jesus Christ

Introduction

This page is dedicated to sharing the Word of God by spreading His Word and revealing the importance of His only begotten son Jesus Christ in your life. His appearance on Earth 2,000 years ago was very important. You could range from being a devout Christian to a hardened unbeliever and that fact still remains the same. You see, we all share one true thing: that no man, before or since, has influenced our world more than He. I hope to share my testimony to everyone who wishes to listen, but most importantly, I wish to touch the lives of the skeptical and show them Jesus was more than an "influential man" or "great leader", but was in fact, incarnated God. You aren't required to have blind faith to believe. God has provided more than enough sufficient evidence to reinforce the deified life of Christ and curb the doubts of any skeptic who is honestly searching for Truth. That ability, along with His willingness, is a testimony to His Amazing Grace.

Jesus: Who is He??

Who is Jesus Christ? As simple as it sounds, that particular question has stumped many of the world's greatest minds since Christ's birth. From the moment of His birth, to the days of His short ministry, to His crucifixion and ultimate resurrection, Jesus Christ was never without people doubting His identity. He performed countless miracles, spoke of vivid prophecies, and even blatantly revealed that He was the Son of God, yet the majority of the Jewish community doubted the words he spoke and questioned His motives and integrity. Some wanted "more proof" and some went so far as to declare Him blasphemous for pronouncing Himself Divine and therefore conspired to put Him to death. Little did they know how their desires to condemn Jesus Christ would ultimately turn into one of the most tragic ironies of all time. They were unaware that the Man whom they refused to believe, regardless of what He accomplished, was indeed the Almighty. Unfortunately, the relativity of their misconceptions continues to abound among unbelievers today. However, I believe Christianity is growing faster than ever--and that happens to be #1 on my list titled "Faith by Understanding God's Proof."

Faith in Jesus Christ by Understanding God's Proof

Brief Reasons to Believe

  1. The Monumental Growth of Christianity
  2. Since Jesus claimed to be God, He was either exactly that or its reciprocal, a blasphemous mortal
  3. The irrefutable historical accuracy of the Bible
  4. The Virgin Birth---Jesus was the Son of God, not of man
  5. He allowed people to worship Him--from His birth to His crucifixion
  6. Jesus made six specific claims to Deity (Read the Gospel of John)
    • Jesus claimed to be God in the Flesh (John 5:17-18)
    • Jesus claimed power to raise the dead (John 5:21)
    • Jesus claimed to be the future judge of all men (John 5:22)
    • Jesus claimed equal honor with God (John 5:23)
    • Jesus claimed the authority to dispense eternal life (John 5:24)
    • Jesus claimed to be the source of life (John 5:26-27)
  7. The recorded miracles performed by Jesus Christ as testimony of His identity
    • The feeding of 5000 people from a boy's lunch
    • The healing of the blind man
    • The conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus
    • His control over nature (the fish in the sea, rebuking the storm while on the Sea of Galilee, turning water into wine, etc.)
    • The transfiguration of Jesus witnessed by Peter, James and John.
    • The healing of countless lepers and those afflicted with "incurable" disease
    • The exorcism of a demon (Luke 8:26-39)
    • His ability to walk on water
    • His power to raise the dead
  8. The absolutely holy life of Jesus---He was without sin
  9. The baptism of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus by the Father---proof of the Trinity
  10. The recorded resurrection followed by the ascension of Jesus into Heaven three days later

Intellectual Basis of Faith

The majority of non-Christians are not necessarily anti-Christian, but many perceive the Christian faith as intellectually inferior and therefore impertinent to contemporary society. This is a great misinterpretation of Biblical truths. I believe the fundamental principles of the Christian doctrine, when coupled with more complex Biblical teaching, produce a worldview that is far superior to that of Eastern Thought, New Age worldviews, or secular sects of society. Nonetheless, we live in a society of post-modernism where "truth" is defined as all lifestyles, religions and worldviews are equally valid. Where opinions matter as much as evidence. Where reality is all in the mind of the beholder. Where the only real sin is criticizing someone else's views or moral choices. Once you realize and adjust to these, ..ahem.., simple guidelines, you can declare yourself "enlightened" and forever live in peace, harmony and unity with your surroundings. *chuckle* Unfortunately, I do not have the webspace to compare and contrast the differences between such nonsense and Christianity in-depth. There is, however, a comprehensive book entitled The New Age Movement and the Biblical Worldview by John P. Newport that really lays everything out in an intelligent format. I highly recommend this book to academics on both sides of the Great Debate. I am also willing to discuss this topic via email or ICQ#27053520.

Wrapping it Up

Throughout antiquity, millions have come to faith in Jesus Christ. I believe among them were people of all types: races, creeds, intelligence, economic backgrounds, size, weight, etc. Surely, as in the case of the Apostle Paul, many were actually violently against Christianity at some point in their lives. Yet somehow their doubt and hostility was turned to belief and pure love for God. That, to me, is amazing. I know what it means to question or spite God. I, too, have been down that road. But I also know that what I have gained through Christ is a miracle in itself. No, mountains weren't moved or toppled--it's nothing you'll see repeated on the nightly news. However, it is a personal miracle felt inside every Christian--the miracle of Life--available on a limited time offer from the One and the Only Jesus Christ. He loves us so much, He came into the body of man and suffered a painful death to defeat sin and death once and for all. Without His blood sacrifice, we would not have real purpose to our being or the hope for eternal life. If you would like to share the blessings of the Anointing of the Holy Spirit by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to get down on your knees and ask Him into your heart by repeating the following prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending your Son Jesus into the world to die for my sins. I admit I am a sinner and I ask Him to come into my life, cleanse my sin, and save my soul. I hereby give myself to You. Thank You, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, for saving me. Amen.

BEST WISHES
and God Bless You!
