TRITON GOLF BALLS TEST WATERS
New ball introduced at PGA Merchandise Show
The golf ball war continues to escalate as Titleist, Maxfli, Spalding and Wilson trade legal briefs. Apparently, a new company Triton Golf, is taking advantage of the larger players staring at each other, quietly advancing with a product of it's own and seemingly, someone forgot to lock the back door.
MARSORAND Corporation, parent company of Triton Golf, has developed 4 new golf balls including a new Tour ball and Hi-Performance ball that, according to their CEO Greg Martin, have recently received test results that showed their ball testing as good and in some cases better than their larger, elite competition.
Even Triton's >TLB (The Ladies Ball) has distinguished itself in testing from the already crowded market. Says Martin, "Triton golf balls have gained a competitive advantage. Lab and consumer tests are conclusive and indicate that our brands will significantly outperform the competition and the consumer will notice a major difference in the playability of the Triton line of golf balls."
While retailers are a bit skeptical of everyone's golf balls including Nike, Cobra and Taylor Made, it's clear that the consumer is looking for a ball that will be playable, priced reasonably and perhaps outperform their old favorite.
Larry Cadorniga, who designed the new line of balls was a former Titleist and Maxfli scientist and holds over 20 patents worldwide including the Titleist Tour Balata, & Maxfli HT Tour Balata. He designed the ball that Jack Nicklaus won the 1986 Masters with while at Mac Gregor Golf.
While none of the ball companies seem worried about any the new entries, Callaway is
lurking in the marketplace with a new ball in the year 2000. Although they are reportedly
not ready to unveil anything about their balls, sources rumor that they have already
invested over $100 million in a ball plant.
