If you know someone who enjoys gardening,
then what better gift to give then some seeds!
Instead of stuffing an envelope full of seed
packets, why not make an attractive gift bag for them?
.
.
What you need to make the bag shown: Thick paper (construction paper, cover stock
or card stock)
Colored paper (regular colored photocopy paper, origami paper, etc..)
Scissors
Glue Stick
Hot
glue gun & hot glue sticks 1/8" thick nylon rope
Dried flowers
Elastic
.
Fold your thick paper in half.
.
Measure 1/4" away from your crease and fold again.
.
.
Hold your paper upright as shown.
One side will be longer then the other.
Cut 1" off the long end, and 3/4" off the short end.
The 2 sides should be the same length in an upright position.
.
.
Cut the paper lengthwise so that one half measures
4 1/4" inches.
Your paper should measure 4 1/4" X 9 1/4" overall.
.
.
Fold the edges lengthwise 1/4" inwards.
.
.
Cut tabs in your paper as shown above.
Cut off 1/8" lengthwise off the top edges of the paper.
Leave the bottom edges as they are.
Your bag should look like the diagram on the left.
.
.
Flip your paper over and use a glue stick to glue a piece
of 2" X 4" colored paper onto
the front of your bag. (the "Front" of your bag is the side where the
edges are shortest).
.
.
Flip your paper back over and
use a glue stick to glue the inside top edges.
fold your bag so that the long edges are inside and the short edges
are on the outside.
.
.
If your glue needs some rubbing in order for it to stick,
place the side that needs rubbing on a flat surface and rub the inside
of the bag with a popsicle stick.
.
Cut two 5" lengths of rope for the handles.
.
.
Lay your bag down and dot 2 beads of hot glue to the inside of
the bag and glue in the rope.
Repeat on the other side.
.
.
Use an elastic to hold your flowers together,
and wrap your elastic with some colored paper.
Hot glue your dried flowers to the front
of your bag. Write a message on the colored paper, and place your store
bought seed packets (or make your own seed packets using seeds from your
own garden) inside.
