Project Help & Tips on Varnishing
.
.
Alice,
I like your toys, how do you get that shine?
I've been using a spray gloss, and can't get that deep shine that you
have on the ducks.

MAKING VARNISH LOOK LIKE GLASS

Making varnish look like glass is very simple.
First I would recomend you use a varnish called
Varathane (gloss finish). Apply about 3 coats, and then once
everything is dry, wax your piece with a wax type chap stick.
Then "buff" it with a paper towel until you get the shine you desire.

AVOID VARNISH BUILD UP

When applying a finish to a piece, put it on a piece of cardboard with staples driven in from the back side,  keeps the finish from
building up on the sides.
