Project Tip on Wood Filler
.
.
Hi Alice
My idea for your tips page has been around for along time, in fact my father in law taught me this one. He once told me "any one can work with wood...only a craftsman can hide his mistakes!" Back when I was workin on the beetle last month, I needed to round over the body with
a 1/2" round over bit. I made marks where the cuts had to end
so as not to run under the fenders, but i still missed one by 3/8" or so. Crap! Well the car body was walnut and there was enough dust under the router table, so i collected some of the smaller shavings, and mixed them with the dark wood glue.I took this "puddy" and fill in the area
and let it dry for the night. The next day I sanded it and shaped the
best I could, and continued with the project. You could still see the patch, but after the finish was applied, it blended in nicely.
