ACCESSORIAL
SERVICES
Services, other than transportation, performed by an agent or the
removal company (such as packing, unpacking, an extra pick-up, etc.).
Accessorial services are charged in addition to transportation
charges.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
This adjusted charge compensates the Removal Company for additional
services performed other than originally requested in your quotation.
It may also compensate the removalist for additional costs incurred
due to traffic congestion and added time travelling to an area for
pick-up or for delivery.
PAYMENT IN ADVANCE CHARGES
Payment is made in advance for charges for services engaged by
a Removal Company or subcontractor at your request or for deposit on
the removal company's services. These charges are advanced to your
Invoice ie waterbed or pool table dismantle.
AGENT OR SUBCONTRACTOR
An affiliated moving company or an authorised car transport
company. The affiliated moving company may serve as the uplift and or
delivery service provider.
AUXILIARY SERVICE
If the assigned removal van or vehicle is unable to make a
normal pick-up/delivery because of physical constraints and a second
smaller vehicle is needed, this is considered Auxiliary Service (ie
ferry vehicle). Examples of such physical constraints include
situations such as a road or driveway that is too narrow, a bridge
unable to support the weight of the vehicle and the inability to park
the vehicle within a reasonable distance of the pick-up or the
delivery residence.
BACKLOAD QUOTE OR DISCOUNTED
PRICE
An estimate of moving costs that is purposely estimated on the
low side in order to secure freight on a return trip or a move from
the customer.
BILL OF LADING - FOR INTERNATIONAL
REMOVALS
The document provided by the removalist who accepts the order
for your move. The booking removalist may, or may not, also act as
your origin or your destination removalist.
CLAIM
Clients statement of loss of damage to any of his or her
claimable household goods while they were in the care of the removal
company. Such a statement is generally made on a "Claim Form".
C.O.D. (CASH ON DELIVERY)
Client/Customer pays the removal charges at the time of
delivery. For CO.D. shipments, payment is required usually in cash,
bank cheque or money order. Personal cheque is not usually accepted
for payment of C.O.D. charges (pending a prior telecheck approval
process).
COPU - (CASH ON PICK-UP) / COU - CASH
ON UPLIFT
Client/Customer pays the removal charges at time of uplift.
Payment is required usually in cash, bank cheque, money order,
personal cheque or credit card pending a prior credit card approval
process.
CONSIGNMENT
Describes your household furniture and effects being
transported.
CONSIGNEE
The person to whom the consignment/shipment is to be
delivered.
CONSIGNOR
The person from whom the consignment/shipment is picked up
from.
CUBIC MEASUREMENT
The commonly used unit of measure in the furniture removal
industry.
DECLARED VALUATION
The market value indication declared for the possessions being
transported based on current market value of the item being moved -
beware of undervaluing.
DESTINATION
AGENT/SUBCONTRACTOR
The agent/subcontractor designated in the destination area
conducting your destination service is also available to assist or
provide information to you regarding your delivery.
DRIVER
The driver of the vehicle carrying your household furniture
and goods.
ESTIMATE
A professional assessment as to the cubic measurement - removal van
space requirements, time to conduct the removal uplift and delivery
of your household goods and cost of the move determined by the
physical visual inspection of your household contents by a
representative of the removal company.
EXTRA PICK UP OR DELIVERY
CHARGE
If a removal Company is required to make an extra stop at
either origin or destination (other than the main pick up or delivery
points) an extra charge may be assessed.
FLIGHT OF STAIRS CHARGE (STAIR
CARRY)
An extra charge for carrying items such as pianos to a higher or
lower floor if not otherwise noted on your quotation.
FURNITURE PANTECHNICON OR FURNITURE
REMOVAL VAN
A Removal Company calls all types and kinds of fully covered trucks
used for moving furniture a furniture pantechnicon. For example a
removal van can be as small as a bread van/pie cart or as a large as
a 28 ft rigid van - 41ft semi trailer.
FURNITURE
REMOVALIST
The person responsible for the physical carrying of your furniture
out of and into your house or furniture removal van. Ideally this
person would hold the Australian Furniture Removers Association
Accreditation.
HOURLY RATE
The rate per hour usually calculated on a depot to depot basis.
INSPECTION
A professional assessment as to the cubic measurement - removal van
space requirements, or time to conduct the removal uplift and
delivery of your household goods and cost of the move determined by
the physical visual inspection of your household contents by a
representative of the removal company.
INVENTORY & CONDITION REPORT
(ICR)
The list itemising the goods (and their condition) that you have
released to the removalists care.
INVOICE
This is the contract with the Removal Company. It is your receipt for
the removal of your household goods and the contract for their
transportation, Your signature may be required on the Invoice Itself
or the Inventory & Condition report to confirm the following: -
on uplift acknowledges that your goods have been loaded on the moving
van and released to the removalist, signature on delivery confirms
your furniture and effects have arrived in good order.
INVOICE NUMBER (INV
NO.)
The number used to identify your consignment/shipment. It appears in
the upper right hand corner of the Invoice or Receipt or
Uplift/Delivery Docket.
JOB NO.
The number used to identify your shipment. It appears on your Invoice
or Receipt or Delivery Docket.
LINEHAUL
The transportation charge to move your household contents from point
of origin to its final point of destination.
LOL
Left off Load, articles that are left behind due to insufficient
space on a removal van or container, to be loaded on a second van or
container for transportation and delivery.
PACKED BY REMOVALIST (PBR) OR CARRIER
PACKED (CP)
Articles pecked into cartons or crates by the removalist or
prepacker.
PACKED BY OWNER (PBO) OR OWNER PACKED
(OP)
Articles packed into cartons or crates by the client/customer.
PREPACK OR PACKING
SERVICE
The packing of the goods you have nominated to be
professionally packed into cartons (boxes) or crates usually from a
flat surface or a cupboard.
REMOVAL PLAN
NO.
The number used to identify your shipment. It appears on
your Invoice or Receipt or Delivery Docket.
REMOVAL COMPANY, CONTRACTOR OR
CARRIER
The company providing transportation for your household
goods and on whose local, interstate or intrastate removal van,
vehicle or container the shipment is moved.
SHIPPER
The person (customer) whose goods are being moved or can be
the removal company moving your furniture.
SURVEY
A professional assessment as to the cubic measurement -
removal van space requirements, and or the time to conduct the
removal uplift and delivery of your household goods and cost of the
move determined by the physical visual inspection of your household
contents by a representative of the removal company.
STORAGE IN TRANSIT (SIT)
Temporary storage of your household goods in the
warehouse of the removalist, pending further transportation.
UNPACKING
The removal of your goods from cartons (boxes) and
crates onto a flat surface and the removal of such flattened cartons
and packing materials.
UPLIFT & OR DELIVERY DOCKET
The document authorises the removalist to transport
your household goods from point of uplift to delivery.
VALUATION
Shippers (client's) declaration of the value declared for
the possessions being shipped, thereby establishing the removal
company's maximum liability for loss or damage to the consignment. If
no value is declared, the liability is then based on the total market
value of the items being moved. .
WAY BILL / MANFIEST / JOB DOCKET
The removal company/contractor who accepts the order
for your move, documents your delivery information on this form. The
booking company may, or may not, also act as your origin or your
destination company/contractor.
