700 million years in the future: The sun's luminosity
has increased by 10%, sufficient to evaporate the oceans. The entire planet
is covered with clouds, delaying the end a little. On land, the increased
insolation combined with the greenhouse effect of CO2 released
from water, has driven the mean temperature to 40 - 80°C. The surviving
lifeforms are forced back into the oceans, where the climate remains more
moderate for a while...
(What do we learn from this?? We are living at the
peak of the Golden Age now!)
