Windows Security Officer 98 Windows OptionsThese are some general options for Windows Security Officer 98: Auto-run, Always check password, Register an access in a log file, Set the access timer.

Auto-run
-
if you set this option Windows Security Officer 98 runs every time that Windows boots up. If you have set an administrator and / or the option "Always check password" Windows Security Officer 98 checks every access. If you have set an administrator and haven't set the option "Always check password" Windows Security Officer 98 checks each log-in for a user who has administrator privileges. The restrictions "No system key combinations" and "Restrict working time" will only work if the option "Auto-run" is set.

Always check password -
if you set this option Windows Security Officer 98 checks every access by users every time Windows boots. If the user does not have their own password, Windows Security Officer 98 requires an administrator's password before allowing access.

Register an access in a log file -
use this option to keep a record of all attempts to access in a log file. When you click on this check box the File Save-as dialog window appears and you can choose a file name and a destination directory for the log file. If a user logs in successfully, Windows Security Officer 98 writes the user's name and a string "Access=Successful" to the log file. If user doesn't log-in successfully Windows Security Officer 98 writes the user's name and invalid password which the user tried to enter into the log file. Also Windows Security Officer 98 writes time when user stops working.

Set the access timer -
this option allows you to restrict the time to complete access. You can limit the access time from 5 seconds to 99 seconds. If user did not complete their access within the allotted time the access to Windows will lock up.
